Melanotan-I

Melanotan-I (also known as Afamelanotide) is a synthetic linear tridecapeptide analog of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It acts as a potent, selective agonist of the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R). Supplied as ≥98% pure lyophilized powder (HPLC/MS verified), it is designed for laboratory studies on melanogenesis, pigmentation, and UV-protection pathways.

Key Research Mechanism Melanotan-I binds with high affinity and selectivity to MC1R receptors. Activation of MC1R strongly stimulates melanogenesis and eumelanin production in melanocytes, leading to increased skin pigmentation and enhanced UV protection in research models.
